How Homeopathy Will Get You Through Flu Season
My big all-things-flu webinar is coming up soon – February 6th, and I’m so excited to share all my tips on how you can use safe, effective remedies to get you through this tough season. If you’re already suffering, or somebody in your family is down and out with a flu virus, you may want to read this quick guide in the run-up to the webinar so you can start making some changes today.
Homeopathy has a long documented history when it comes to tackling this relentless seasonal illness. The documented death toll of the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918 was around 30% in some American communities. In homeopathic hospitals that year, the death rate was at 3% or below. While conventional hospitals were trialling aspirin and accidentally overdosing flu patients, leading to internal bleeds and an escalating mortality rates, the homeopathic hospitals were prescribing Gelsimium, and seeing incredible results.
It may not be 1918 anymore, but the flu is still here, and we’re still fighting it every year with a combination of remedies, strategic prescribing, and healthy lifestyle changes.
Set Up A Flu-Free Zone
The best sort of flu is the one you stop in its tracks before it can mess with you at all. As we approach another dreaded flu season, use these simple strategies to keep the virus well away from your home so you can carry on with life as normal:
- Stay hydrated! A hydrated body is a happy, healthy body.
- Wash those hands. This is the simplest prevention strategy and one of the most effective. Use a mild soap with hot water regularly – no sanitzers required.
- Maintaining a low-stress mindset is good for you in a multitude of ways. It’ll also keep your immune system functioning well.
- Boost your vitamin intake. D3 and vitamin C are essential during flu season. Dose your vitamin C with bioflavonoids and choose buffered options if you’re taking large doses. Food state vitamins are best.
- Choose immune-boosting remedies. Remedies like Occilococcinum 200c, Influenzinum 200c, Aconite 200c, and the Flu combo in 200c from Helio’s or Ainsworth Pharmacy (UK) are great options for warding away winter bugs.
What Remedies Should You Take?
When it comes to prescribing homeopathic remedies, every body is different. We all react to illnesses in a different way; so one remedy may help one family member while another needs something totally different. This is just a quick guide to help you find the right remedy for your symptoms, if you’re interested in prescribing from home. There are several other remedies that may also be of use when coping with the flu, and I’ll explore them in more detail during my webinar.
Belladonna: This remedy is best for a flu that comes on suddenly with a high fever and glassy eyes. Sensitivity to light is a major feature, as thirst for drinks with lemon. They may also have delirium and a dry fever without sweat.
Nux Vomica: If the patient is very chilly, craving hot drinks, sensitive to nose and light and agitated by everything. This person may have both cold and gastric symptoms.
Mercurius Solubilis: This flu patient will have swollen glands and a sore throat, a bad taste in the mouth, and trouble regulating their body temperature.
Gelsemium: This remedy is best for flu that comes on slowly over hours or days. We usually see decreased thirst, chills, and painful skin during a fever, aches and pains in the limbs and a feeling of heaviness in the muscles. They may find it hard to lift their head from the pillow.
Bryonia: Bryonia is great for flu that looks a lot like Belladonna but presents with a slow onset. You could be very thirsty for plenty of water, pain when moving and discomfort that spreads all over, even when breathing.
Arsenicum: If you’re struck by gastric flu this season, this is often the right remedy. It helps with vomiting and diarrhea, anxiety about being left alone, and restlessness. You may be very weak and want to take small sips of tea or water.
